About the Practitioner

Victoria Segal, L.Ac.I am a graduate of the Eastern School of Acupuncture and Traditional Medicine (ESATM) in Montclair, NJ - one of the few schools of Oriental Medicine that offers a truly eclectic approach to teaching and a unique curriculum comprised of extensive didactic and clinical training in a variety of different styles of acupuncture. I also hold a degree in Chinese herbology from the Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (PCOM) in NYC.

I am trained in Classical Chinese Acupuncture based on ancient Taoist philosophy, Five Element style which emphasizes spiritual and emotional healing and Japanese Acupuncture in the tradition of Kiiko Matsumoto which incorporates western perspectives into oriental medicinal practices, as well as in traditional Chinese herbology - a broad and diverse education in the realm of Oriental Medicine that allows me to develop a comprehensive individual approach to treatment for each of my patients.

I continue to further my training by taking numerous professional courses and seminars and pursuing extensive post-graduate studies in areas of both acupuncture and Chinese herbology with such masters of Oriental Medicine as Jeffrey Yuen, Giovanni Maciocia and Thea Elijah.

I am nationally certified in both acupuncture and Chinese herbology by the National Certification Commission for Acupuncture & Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM), and licensed by the state of New Jersey. I am a member of American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (AAAOM), Acupuncture Society of New York (ASNY) and of New Jersey Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NJAAOM).

My goal as a healer is to adjust and stimulate the flow of energy, gently guiding it in a way that allows the person to tap into their innate ability to heal and regain health and well-being by bringing the body, mind and spirit back into balance. A very important part of my practice, in addition to addressing your chief complaint, is to pay close attention to the signs of underlying conditions that have created disease or have prevented recovery. By targeting not only the symptoms of an illness, but also the source from which the illness originates, I seek to help my patients heal both physically and emotionally, preserve their health and vitality and prevent further illness.

I only treat one person at a time in order to give my patients my undivided attention and practice in a way I find most respectful and effective. I will not be managing different treatment rooms or leaving you alone in the middle of the treatment to attend to someone else. Appointment times are long enough so that patients are not rushed. I take time to really listen and understand your condition, needs and concerns, and design an individual treatment plan considering each patient's emotional, mental and spiritual condition at the same time as addressing acute or chronic physical issues.

My office provides a holistic environment where Oriental Medicine is practiced with open heart and mind, respect, integrity and compassion and where the patients are empowered to embark on the journey towards wellness. I am honored by the privilege of being your partner on your healing path, and passionate about sharing my knowledge and love of the art and science of the Oriental Medicine with you.
